The Pete’s Plug®
Pete’s Plug® is a reliable and cost-effective solution for obtaining instant pressure and temperature readings without the need for permanent gauges or thermometer wells. Designed to enhance system efficiency, Pete’s Plug® is widely used across plant and pipeline systems, including hot and chilled water systems, heat exchangers, pumps, air and gas lines, and differential pressure monitoring applications.
Key Features & Benefits:
- Instant Readings – Allows quick and accurate pressure and temperature measurements without disrupting system operation.
- Self-Closing Dual Valve System – Features two enhanced self-sealing valves that improve closure speed, ensuring a secure and leak-free seal after use.
- Versatile Applications – Suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial systems, including HVAC, water treatment, and process piping.
- Durable & High-Performance – Constructed to withstand demanding conditions, with operating pressures up to 1,000 PSI and temperatures up to 200°F (93°C) for neoprene or 275°F (135°C) for Nordel. In certain applications, Pete’s Plug® can achieve a maximum working pressure of 1,500 PSI within a temperature range of -20°F to 140°F (-29°C to 60°C).
How It Works:
Pete’s Plug® is permanently installed at designated test points in a system. A protective cap provides an additional seal and safeguards the internal valves. When the cap is removed, a test thermometer or pressure gauge can be inserted through the self-sealing valves to take readings. Upon withdrawal, the valves automatically close, preventing leaks and maintaining system integrity.
To ensure optimal performance, readings should be taken efficiently, as resealing time depends on insertion duration, system pressure, and temperature. Lower pressures and temperatures may result in a slower valve reseal.
With its proven performance and reliability, Pete’s Plug® remains the industry standard for efficient, on-demand system monitoring while reducing costs and installation complexity.
